A series of horse shows held by lesson barns, for lesson students, and only for lesson students, and lesson horses. Anyone competing in these horse shows cannot own a horse, lease a horse, and must be taking lessons and show on a lesson horse.
This year has four showing time and places. All are held on Saturdays.

Lehman Farms

Our first horse show of the year was the ESRAS series at Lehmans. We brought Grappa, Happy, Jack and Ghost. Overall the horses worked out ok. Some not 100% cooperating, but overall mostly went smoothly.

The ribbons didn’t always reflect how well the girls really did perform in their classes and especially one judge concentrated on the horses more than the riders.

The walk-trot girls, Lizzy, Abigail, and Hannah really did very well in their Cavaletti class. Hannah got a 2nd, Abigail 3rd and Lizzy also a 3rd. We’re very proud of them.

The beginner division was Emily and Elizabeth. They did not get the ribbons they deserved. Emily especially had nearly perfect equitation, yet only got a 5th and 7th.

The advanced beginner division was Mikalea, Kate and Michelle. The highlight of that division was Kate and Ghost getting a 2nd place in the equitation on the flat. Though they all rode really well, even over fences.

Good luck to everyone for the next show, June 4th at Huntington Meadows.

Huntington Meadows Stables

I'm pretty sure Huntington is cursed to have some sort of rain before or during their shows. So, of course it rained again. Of course our riders got super wet, well, the ones riding outside did. That didn't seem to stop them though. Not only did they continue to ride in thunder and lightening, they placed very well in all sorts of classes.

Congrates to ALL the walk-trotters at ESRAS. None of them got anything lower than 4th place. Kalika even got Reserve Champion but the other three were only a couple points behind! Awesome job girls. Elizabeth Morrow got a 2nd in her Eq. of Fences and Mikalea Huff and Michelle Insalaco got a 2nd in their over fences classes IN THE THUNDER AND RAIN!! Even Kate Egan got a 3rd and Pat got a 4th in their over fences IN THE THUNDER AND RAIN!!!! Awesome job ladies.

More info later.

Way Farm
The only show we attended this month was the ESRAS on the last Saturday of the month. Good thing too since a lot of the month was really really really hot. This show wasn’t toooooo hot, though, I have realized why we normally cancel lessons when it gets above 85.

This one was at Way Farm and we only had Walk-Trotters and Advanced Beginner students showing.

We had our ups and our downs… really downs. We had several riders get 2nd places, Lizzy Storm in Walk-Trot, Kate in her Equatation on the flat, Mikalea in Jumping Equitation and Hunter classes, and Michelle in her Hunter over fences. Pat actually had some competition so she got 2nds in all her classes.

Then we had several riders get 3rds and 4ths. Most everyone went home with a ribbon in every class!!! Gold was awesome for jumping, and Jack was great.

That was the ups….

Now onto our downs. We took Strider for the first time, he was very nervous, but mostly did his job. I’m sure he will be less nervous next time. Then we had Kate, who fell in her flat class with Happy. The ring was soooo muddy and since there were puddles everywhere, Happy would NOT go through one, so she ducked out and poor Kate ended up in the puddle. OH well.

Overall it was a good show, HOT, but good. MUDDY, but good. Onto the LAST show at Canalside. Keep an eye out for directions.

Canalside Stables

Last ESRAS of 2011 was at Canalside. First time we have actually gone to their stable, and it was a new place even for them. Nice outdoor and indoor arena! Having the stalls was just a life saver.
The walk trot division had the hardest time getting really good placing ribbons. Must be that everyone else finally caught up to our awesome riders. But they all got points and that will definitely go towards the year end ribbons.
The Beginners had their ups and downs. Emily got a 1st place in her Equitation on the flat with Happy. And a 2nd in her Equitation over fences.
The Advanced Beginners worked through some tough riding and Pat did the best on Jack over fences. She earned a 2nd place in the Hunter and a 3rd in her Equitation over fences. Gold was lame for an unknown reason and Michelle had to wing it with Jack over fences, but did well in her Medal course.

Overall we’re proud of everyone, and most everyone arrived at this new stable without getting lost ;)
Jack worked extra hard since Gold couldn’t do anything. Strider really is coming along and was awesome in the indoor. Happy was just awesome as usual.
Also thanks to the wonderful helpers this year. We’ve had many helpers, but the most consistent we’re Sarah and Sara. Thanks so much for coming out every show. Mary also came out every show and helped a ton!! The others who also helped for some of the shows, Jessie, Shannon and Holly. Without you, we wouldn’t be able to run so smoothly.

Please don’t miss out on the ESRAS awards banquet. I will post it on the yahoo groups, or if you would like it e-mailed, let Jennifer know. The banquet is at Burgundy Basin Inn September 16th from 6:30-9pm. $26 for anyone 13 and over and $21 for anyone 12 and under. Come bring the family dress up and take pictures!

Pictures of this past show can be viewed at Saddle portraits: www.saddleportraits.com/gallery/

And one last thing, Thanks so much goes to Linda for doing my stalls at home so I don’t have to when the show is done. You are as much of a help as the ones who go to the shows.
